I’m In Shock About Robin Williams

He made me laugh so hard my drink came out my nose. He made me want to cry when his students stood on their desks and said, “Oh captain, my captain.” He brought attention to often ignored rights of fathers in child custody in “Mrs. Doubtfire.” And I first saw him as an alien in Mork and Mindy.

I’m in total shock that he’s dead and even more so that it is likely suicide. He always seemed to be smiling. He was the one cheering everyone else up. I never thought of him as being capable of depression.

I learned today that he was bullied as a kid. That was part of what brought out his gift of humor. He helped himself and other kids laugh as a way of coping with the bullying.

I hate bullies. I loved Robin Williams. May he rest in peace.
